Excur w/Tint-PIAA Backup Lights Worth it??

I have a 2003 Limited Black Excursion with Limo tint on all windows behind driver's and front passenger. So of course at nighttime I am having difficulty seeing out of the rear window when backing up.

I am about to spend $200-$300 on some roughly half price PIAA lights from the website litewarehouse to mount on the rear bumper for improved vision (either 2100s or 3000s).

Will this solution REALLY give me improved visibility at night with the limo tint? I know some of you have used this option.

Thanks.

That sounds pretty expensive, even at 1/2 price. I have the White Knight back up lights on my truck hitch and they really help. They were around $70 from JCWhitney. KC also makes some nice slim back up lights that go under the bumper.

Thanks Triton. But I am less concerned about the price than true luminence and difference making in backing up at night. I have a wife and 1 year old twins and their safety is my ultimate concern. So if $300 PIAAs have the best light option out there I will take it. If $70 Whitneys give me the best light option I will take that. I just don't know who does and others like you have experience. I have seen the PIAA output in the store and it is very impressive but I know real life application is different.

Well, if price is not an issue go for it. But for $300 (or a bit more) you could probably get some backup lights, a reverse motion sensor, and some halogen replacement bulbs for the stock backup lights. You can be in broad daylight and you still can't see that area behind the tailgate. Maybe a reverse camera would be the perfect solution?

I think you hit it on the head. I will definitely be installing a rear camera when I get the new Alpine or AVIC in dash dvd/screen. I understand the new in dash models come out next month. That is the total solution. But some good rear lights would sure boost the performance of a camera and TT side mirrors too. Also good for a night time camping/fishing/work light.

Motion sensor...how does that supplement the existing distance sensor? I know what a motion sensor is but what is the application for the Ex? I may consider this too.....

Sorry, I thought those distance sensors could detect motion too.
This is what I was thinking of

But I guess you already have it.
