SD/EX Electronics Compatibility

I have recently absorbed a rolling chassis and all the electronics of a 2000 SD 7.3L Powerstroke. It has 370k on it and spent life on a dirt road. Im taking it to do a rebuild on the engine/trans and possibly the axles. We cut the body up/off and are throwing it in a dumpster this weekend.

So, are the electronics the same as my 2001 EX? Im thinking the PCM is the same but there may be functional differences in the BCM and crash module.

As for axles... are the front and rear the same? If so, Im going to do a full rebuild on them and roll them under mine.

I also have the hydro boost assembly. I think I'll rebuild that as well.

I want to do a rebuild on the engine and I have the resources/connections to get anything done, just wondering if its worth it. Theres a few businesses out there that offer a nicely built long block, good bolts, balanced, shot peened rods....that sort of thing, for not that much money. Wondering if anyone has experience with any reman 7.3L engines.

Basically, nothing else was any good. Maybe a few bits from the inside (grey interior) and other than engine/trans/tcase/axles....the rest of the chassis is severely rusted garbage.

Excursion has the PATS system and GPCM instead of GPR, IIRC.

Depending on the production date of the 2000 the rear axle may be different in that some early 2000 had one rear brake caliper in the front of the wheel and one in the back.

I looked at it but dont remember, I requested pics and should know shortly.

On this topic, one of the calipers had a shield bolted to it. He said the other one rusted off. So shields on both covering the calipers. Lends itself to both are forward of center.

And by the way, parts from this will be going on my Excursion.

FYI, this is the site as of the 24th...

Ok, so heres my question: 2000 SD: Are the ECM and IDM the same as my 2001 EX? Is it worth keeping on the shelf or should I sell all the modules as a 'set'?

Heres the 4 modules I have. Im moving out of the garage into the new shop so I want to minimize but dont want to get rid of something that is compatible with my truck.

Everything on the SD worked and I dont see any intrusion type water damage on anything. All pins are intact without corrosion.

Thoughts, opinions?
