240 carburetor year difference

i have a 67 with the 240 and it came with an autolite 1101 carb. i think in 68 these changed over to carter. anything wrong with running a carter on the 67 instead of the 1101? changed distributor to electronic and it dont need the spark control valve on the 1101.
just wondering about jetting differences, ect. i know the plugs are light tan colored so its not running rich. i can block the spark control valve if i need to use the 1101. thanks.

Other than the high speed jetting and maybe the bolt hole spacing I don't see why you can run the Carter.
Now if it is a YF carb the high speed is a needle rod & seat and can be adjusted if need be.
I would start with just bolting the carb on make sure the choke closes when cold, start it and get it up to temp keeping an eye on the choke to make sure it opens all the way.
Once up to temp and choke is open adjust the idle mix and see how it runs.

As for the dist. and no vacuum to it what dist. did you drop in there?
A factory DSII still has vacuum advance. It was not till think 83 when Ford went with the feed back system where a computer controls timing so no vacuum advance on the dist.

bought an ebay special with the gm top. i thought i needed to plug the spark control valve on the ford carb. another case of me fixing something thats not broke. having trouble with the electric choke on the carter. works good then wont open.
back to the 1101 with the manual choke and plugged the spark valve. runs about the same with either. the carter yf seems a little more responsive tho. both start really good and changed the spark plug gap to .45. the new distributor has vacuum advance and also has a manual advance using an allen wrench. never seen that. thanks

Depending on the YF choke I am going to say it uses a 6volt feed from the "S" lug on the ALT and the hot air from the exh manifold.
It needs both to open and no hooking a full 12 volts will not make it work right ALT feed & hot air.
