Underhood light show
Hey everyone. I have a 1969 F100 w/ 390, c6, 4bbl, stock ignition. I have an intermittent miss at idle and cruise speed. Last week i was under the hood while it was getting dark and i found a couple of plug wires arcing. Cool! basic tune-up and ill be good to go. Pulled the plugs and they are perfect. Changed them anyways. new wires (lifetime silicone) Autolite plugs and all the other little goodies. Fired old yeller up and guess what? The miss is still there and i have a beautiful light show under the hood. ok, lets move the wires alittle to get them away from any metal. (intake, valve covers, fuel filter, ect. Try again... still have lightening bolts under the hood. Ok, ill fix the SOB. Put some plastic wire loom over every plug wire. No more arcing at the wires. Now EVERY spark plug has an arc going from the bottom of the plug boot to the metal spark plug base!!!!!What gives? I'm only running a points ignition system here. Any help would be appreciated!
