Hey everyone, I'm currently looking at buying a 2006 F250 with the 6.0 Powerstroke. I'm new to owning a diesel, but I've done a lot of research and have some experience with working on one. I know the basics of looking at a used 6.0, (temp differences for oil cooler, smoke on startup, hard hot starts, etc.) but I'm not 100% sure with this truck. It has 195,000 miles, but the price and it not looking bulletproofed is making me want to look away. It's a great looking truck, and looks like a great buy, but I'm not sure if it would be a solid purchase because I don't want to spend around what they're asking ($15k) just to have to do repairs right after. So, for those who are most likely much more experienced than me, should I try and see if I can snag up this truck? Or should I run away?
You are looking at a 15 year old vehicle. Even if the engine is perfect, there can be lots of wearable parts waiting for you.
These vehicles seem tough on brakes/calipers, batteries. U joints, suspension components get expensive too. Even more so if you don’t Do your own work.
200k miles is about when our injectors started failing. Initially just replaced the injured ones, but realized may as well do them all. $200 each without labor.
you should budget in some cash for this stuff
