I am going to have to change my Harmonic Balancer soon and was wondering how many of you have installed a Fluidampr in your 7.3. and if you had any issues with the install? I am trying to decide between factory OEM or the Fluidampr.
Your thoughts and experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ed

I stuck a fluidampr on my 2000. Went on fine, it has a bit of a different face where the press pushes compared to factory, so you may have to use some ingenuity depending on your press kit. Make sure you get enough threads into crank, it sucks to have the press bolt pull out....
I dont know if the extra cost was worth it or not, but it is still working just fine so that's good.
I did as Bitterroot did, installed a Melling oil pump and the Fluid-damper. I think the instructions require some RTV around the key way. Typically the original bolt is not long enough to pull the new damper into final position, so I purchased a piece of metric all thread plus a couple matching nuts and cut the all thread several inches longer than the original bolt. Mine has been on for 4 or 5 years.
I put a fluidamper on my 2000 along with a melling lpop. I just used 2 washers stacked with the crank bolt to install and had no problems. I do think they say it's best to use a new crank bolt after you press the fluidamper on but I didn't. Don't forget to put sealant on the keyway as oil can slowly leak past it if you don't(I don't think this was in the fluidamper directions but I found out the hard way) .If you need the measurements for the washers I can probably locate them just let me know. Probably best to rent a fan clutch tool for local auto store, this makes taking off the fan much easier, although some just use a air chisel and strike the fan nut a couple times to loosen it up. I heard this is not good to do so I just got the tool. The melling lpop is easy to install as well, your going to be right there so might as well. If you have any questions just let us know, it's not a bad job at all.
