I have an 8 foot cab high fiberglass canopy, 4 windows and carpeted - any idea the weight - I know it is all my son and I can do to lift it off and he's young and fairly strong, me not so much.
Thanks for the info guys! Edgethis - your other 2 vehicles are high on my want list. I've owned (many years ago) a 65 and 67 Mustang fastback. Then in later years bought a 84 Z28.
I was told that they weight about 250 lbs. It definitely isn't all that heavy, just awkward to deal with. I have this one and while it is on my rack in the garage, I can easily lift one corner with one arm. I can also carry it on my back, but it is not easy to balance and helps if I have some one else around. That's why I set this up, easy on/off.
Texasguy001, that's a nice lifting system you've built - I made one after watching you tube videos - basically 1 large sawhorse and 2 Simpson strong - tie hangers attached to the outside of my garage. Back truck up - lift canopy up 4" and slide 2x4 under one end attaching one end into hanger and other end on top of sawhorse. Repeat on the other end of canopy. 5 min. job for 2 people - takes me about 30 min by myself. I didn't have room in my garage for a system like you have.

That sounds like a good way to do it also. Here is another view of my setup. It has an electric hoist. The camper sits on the the 2x4s going across but is also still attached to the hoist as a fail safe. The biggest problem I have with this setup is balance. I had it balanced really well, but now it leans to one side pretty bad when lowering. This arrangement barely works in my garage. I wish the ceiling / rafters were higher. You have to duck a bit to avoid it, but it works.
