What tailgate

My 1955 ford f100 is missing a tailgate. What other year tail gate can I use? Or is it just 55 or 56.

1953-1966 are the same.

Edit: Actually, according to Dennis Carpenter and Mac's Auto Parts 1953-1972 are the same.

Be aware that the short bed and long bed are different widths...tailgates are not the same width.

Where are you getting that information abe? Dennis Carpenter shows that the wide bed tailgate is 54-13/16 X 20-3/4 whereas the short bed tailgate is 50 X 20-3/4....both are the same height.

In my head.... And inside my head can be a scary place!

I'll have to check my literature but I thought the F250 and F350 bed sides were higher than the F100 sides and would need a higher tailgate....
