[QUOTE=clayton.boyle;19948707]I finally found a truck! My original order 12/23/2020 was built 04/23/2021. It is still sitting in purgatory..
i was lucky enough to find an almost identical f350 dealer stock order built may 15 and delivered last week. Proof they are prioritizing trucks coming off the line, even dealer stock.
super happy to have one. They charged me msrp but gave me $7000 more on trade for my f150 so it all came out in the wash.
love this thing!
Great looking truck! Glad you found one that was close to what you ordered....Not thrilled about dealer stock orders getting prioritized over retail orders.
Also glad you didn't get screwed by your dealer. If you're happy, you got a good deal.
Yeah another F250 6.2 XL just showed up on the in transit part of my dealers website. Ford is still shipping out less profitable trucks vs the purgatory ones collecting dust. Very frustrating.
I can tell you I'm not going to pay it. I have a truck on order, no price agreed on yet. I wont even pay MSRP. They still make alot at MSRP and most of these dealers are making a killing in the used market right now so its not like they are hurting. Prices will get back to normal at some point and I can wait, I dont need a truck now. I feel sorry for the guys out there who are in a position that they HAVE to buy a truck now and these sleezy dealers are taking advantage of them.
"I have a truck on order, no price agreed on yet. I wont even pay MSRP."
You didn't negotiate a price up front? In these zero inventory times? Good luck with that deal.

I'm not obligated to buy the truck when it comes in. They said if I dont buy it then they will just put it on the lot. No deposit or anything. It is a retail order in my name and I got an email from Ford just a few minutes after it was submitted. I know the salesman and he told me I would probably be better off waiting til the truck comes in to talk price. Said that right now since they have nothing on the lot his manager wont be as likely to deal, when it comes in hopefully they have trucks on the lot and will be able to get a better price. I dont mind walking away from it. Plenty of Ford dealers around. I will just go order one elsewhere.

you need new siding on your house? Maybe a new roof. My crew is available this next week, if you just say yes once they are done I'll send you the bill, you cool with that?
What part of I dont have to buy the truck dont you get. Let me put it another way. My dealer has a truck coming with the exact options I want. I have first shot at it. If we cant make a deal than I dont buy it. NO different than buying from dealer stock. I am not obligated to anything. if you want to put a roof on my house so I can see what it looks like before we agree to a price and if dont like the price after its done then I dont have to pay for it go ahead.

got ya, loud and clear. Waiting for your post in a few months: "I ordered a truck and now the dealer is trying to rip me off"
Why dont you just go away. Its people like you that ruin these forums. Nobody asked your opinion, nobody wants it. Absolutely no reason for you to have even started running your mouth except thats what you like to do.
So interesting note, I called Ford in regard to the PCO, they didn't mention talking to my dealer but they did say I would have to purchase the vehicle before the expiration date to apply the PCO. So I asked if they had any updates on the vehicles, status, etc the response was that they had no idea when the chips would be fully coming in/at what rate and that they do not have an order of how the already built trucks will be completed. So...I basically said to them that I have to buy a truck that is in purgatory, without taking possession of it to get this PCO? and the answer was yes, it goes by the purchase date. Nice. Nice. Waiting to hear back from my dealer now, this has been one fun run around.

i feel like you got hosed. My 2019 was ordered in may, i didnt have a pco at the time i got one in late june, exp was 7/6. called dealership told them i had one they were able to "lock it in" i picked my truck up from them late july and the PCO was still accepted/locked in.
aboyles, for what it's worth I don't see that as a terrible strategy. I think we are literally at the peak of pricing right now. Many dealers only selling above MSRP. With a better flow of trucks, they may be slightly more willing to negotiate.
Many of us bought 6 months ago and got reasonable deals, but those same trucks may be selling for over MSRP today, so unless your dealer willing to lock in under MSRP, and your able to walk away from a bad deal, you may be able to get a few thousand under MSRP when it arrives.
You can also sign up for the Mustang Club and get an x-plan pin if your truck is not in for 90 days.

I thought a PCO can be applied when a VIN is generated. I get in trouble for thinking though.

Thank you, that's good to know. I am waiting to hear back from my dealership now and will mention it to them. I can't imagine I would have to purchase it before its delivered, that makes no sense to me. I feel like Ford is just telling people things to keep us satisfied.
