I recently had my local Ford dealer install the ProCal 4 M9603 FEB performance kit in my 2019 Ford Ranger 2.3 L. The vehicle had 10500 miles when this was installed. Within two weeks and less than 500 miles, the engine has apparentley blown up according the dealer. Aynone else had problems with this engine performance kit.
I have the same truck. so is the PRO CAL tune an aftermarket tune or the one sold by ford performance? you said your local dealer installed this tune, so will they warranty any repairs or a new motor??
you definatly have my attention on this one.
The Pro Cal 4 kit is a Ford Motor kit and is warranted by Ford for 3yr/36000 miles if installed by a Ford dealership or an ASE certified shop. Performance increase and shifting had a significant improvement. The problem started with a miss and then a knocking which sounded more like a lifter than a knock. The dealer is waiting to hear back from Ford on how to handle it. It has not been determined if the ProCal kit is the problem. Will update
well i hope ford does the right thing and drops in a new motor or posibly rebuild yours. im wondering if they will leave the tune in or not. i guess it would depend on what they determin the cause of failure was?
i only have 6000klms. on my truck and so far im quite impressed with the power and milage im getting, BUT that little devil on my shoulder keeps saying...get the tune...get the tune...
i hope it all works out for you

I loved the tune, I ordered it from Ford Racing Parts Direct. Cost was $695 with free shipping. Dealer charged me $255 to install which they said would be $175 if I did the registration. They claimed it took longer to program than anticipated. I took it to Ford specifically for any issues which might come up like a blown engine. I would like the kit to stay installed but if there is a problem with the kit I expect a refund of kit and installation costs. Hope this was helpful to you.
The dealer determined the problem with my 2019 Ford Ranger was a mechanical issue with the engine and not the result of the Pro Cal 4 kit. I t will be covered under warranty and will be able to keep the kit. Hope this is helpful to anyone considering the Ford Pro Cal 4 kit.
