Has any one had a leveling kit installed by the dealer ? Was looking at this as While ford will not warranty it because of non ford parts the dealer will cover it .
What do you think?
My dealer "wouldn't touch it" because "have you seen how long those take to put in?" That was enough of a turn-off to not push it any further. They said it would be at least a day labor. I would have liked to have them do it for a stand behind it factor but not for that kind of money
At the parts counter at my purchasing dealership they had three posters for lifts and level. They were very nicely done, professional posters. One was specific to the Superduty. I would trust the guys here on the forum (even drunk) than I would the dealership.
They do want an arm and a leg ,In the very brief conversation I had with them , install kit I do not know what kit or what was included he did say they use a track bar bracket and align the truck they quoted me around 1200 the kits i see out their with track bar bracket are 400-500 range ,Wow i chuckled !! Being a retired fleet mechanic i have no problems or issues doing the work I was more interested in the effect it would have on the 36/36000mile warranty if i had a front end issue .Truck only has 500 miles on it .At that price if I install 1200 buys a lot more options in a kit .

Lol i agree on that for sure ! was only looking to find that happy medium with what i want and what the dealer would do if and when their are issues that should be covered under warranty.
I had my dealer install my leveling kit and they did not mention anything about voiding any warranty. They had lifted F250's on the lot that they had done. Cost was about $500 level kit, caster shims and alignment. Had a bit of an issue though...I told them the only reason I didn't do it was because I did not have a torque wrench that would go up to the 450lbs for the track bar bolt. Guy says "Oh yeah we got that". Got the truck back and the front end felt like it was floating, lots of back and forth play in the steering wheel. Turns out they did not get the track bar bolt tight enough. "I said I told you so, you knuckleheads". I drive it home and front end still felt like it was floating. Bought the new caster shims and took it back and told them to install and realign but this time I want before and after on the alignment. They initially wanted to charge for a 2nd alignment. When I asked for the before and after alignment specs it showed the specs were out on the before. I told them I am not paying for a second alignment when the before specs show you gave it back to me out of spec. Been fine since.
Spcassell the dealer warranties it not Ford ,Ford will not warranty anything that has no ford part number ,I asked that very question when he told me the warranty would still cover it .And they stated Ford will not cover it but we <the dealer> will . Not a big deal as long as they honor it unless you have some type of failure and you can not get to your dealer .Slicktop was that out the door parts & labor ?Do you remember what the castor was set at and what they set it to ?
They have an in-store aftermarket parts depot. My new rig was in for service 3 times within 1st 2 weeks so they offered 10% below invoice on whatever (some crazy, fairly severe, pulling/alignment issue). Already had plans on a full Carli Pintop, but I knew better not to let the dealership do anything aftermarket! Tho at $6700 installed l I took it. To cut to the chase, even though they've "installed hundreds of SD lifts", I still had to go back twice to adjust the caster shims and again to fix Deaver squeak
If it comes pre-installed I'm sure it'd be past any of these kinds of issues. But none of it was covered under factory warranty and they don't warranty their pre-sale aftermarket anyway even on their $250k Raptors. I know those aftermarket warranty dealers are out there, alas this wasn't one of them
The Pintop looks to be a top of the line kit !!!! To me Its not so much the warranty of the aftermarket stuff its all the other stuff <oem> that is connected or nearby or affected by the aftermarket stuff if that makes any sense .
