Had my 2019 Ranger XLT oil changed at the dealer and walked around the lot and became quite comfortable in a 2020 Pearl metalic white Leather F150 Lariat V8 with all the tow add on's and big 36 gal tank - priced from MSRP 61K down to 52K and KBB says my ranger with lo miles is worth 33K at trade in. F150 owners V8 or 2.9 for reliability ? Dreaming what if. Love the way this Ranger handles, parks and easier to drive then my old full size Chevy but still miss full size space and comfort.
Well the 2.3 is a pretty proven engine at this point. Its been out since 2015 MY and no severe issues. The 5.0 to me lacks low end power in the F150 and for that reason all mine have been 3.5 EB trucks.
reliability is good with both. But feel is totally different. that's a bigger factor. Myself, I love the feel of a turbo motor, and don't ever want to own naturally aspirated again, but others have the opposite opinion, and each of us would not be happy with the others truck.

Does the Lariat that you mentioned come equipped with the 502A package?
If so, that’s a very good price.
I’m a big fan of NA engines and I’ve been very happy with my 2016 V8 Lariat.
With that being said, I’ve heard mostly positive comments and reviews on the small EB engines in Ford trucks.
Other than that, I think it’s a personal preference.

Yes. It comes with the 502A package ... There is a lot to like. I like the relative simplicity of the V8 over the high tech plumbing of the turbo for long life. At this age it could actually turn out to be my last truck. I kept my 5.3 Chevy for 15 years. I am just not sure how much I can actually tow with this F150?
From what I've seen, the Ecoboost engines have had less trouble than the 2018+ 5.0 . They tow like mad, don't make a fuss about it, and have no issue with altitude. Yes they are more complicated, but they don't tend to have issues related to the extra complication. If it were me, I wouldn't hesitate to get an Ecoboost, either 2.7 or 3.5, although I'd go with the 3.5 myself.
To anyone that claims the 3.5EB is more complicated than the current gen 5.0, the difference is two turbos or two less cylinders. Just depends on how you want to look at it. The 5.0 has 16 injectors and the EB has 12. These engines share a lot of technology and simple isn't a trait of either.

I did not realize that - thanks for the info how much is in common. I was only thinking of the High Pressure turbos and NA seems much simpler. "Seems so anyway at first glance"
Perhaps it just comes down to more things that can fail or cause problems on the EB compared to the Coyote.
Dual turbos and all of the related parts.
I can tell you right now, the odds of you seeing the Lariat that you mentioned and posted at that price is very, very rare indeed so don’t wait around too long because that vehicle at that price will not last.
My 2013 F150 Lariat 4x4 3.5 liter ecoBoost did not treat me very good.. before 100,000 miles had multiple manifold bolts break, 4x4 not engaging or making noise multiple times (never did get them to fix it finally deleted front hubs and issue solved), at 102,000 engine said no oil pressure one day.. full of oil, regular maintenance, and engine was totaled.. warranty put new engine in it.. couple more manifold bolts and gasket problems and now it vibrates badly at low rpm why driving.. it got sent to auction today with 180,000 miles.. just spent $3,000 on it and probably needs another 3-5,000.
Wanted to wait till I could buy a 2021 but finally gave up on old one and bought a 2020 f150 4x4 5.0 liter.. so far I enjoy driving a v8 again hopefully it treats me better than ecoBoost.. 4500 miles on it now
I tuned into Utube and previewed the 2021 F150 models and NO LONGER want anything but 2021 for the interior features redone alone! WOW - Glad i did not race to the dealer for the 2020 model left over. I think they will be hard pressed selling the old model when the post 2021 is widely available.

I hope you find what you’re looking for in a 2021 model.
With that being, you should compare the price of the 2021 Lariat with all of the same features and options of the 2020 Lariat that you posted.
I don’t think the dealer will have any problem at all moving that 2020 Lariat.
When I was looking, based on the price increase for the new model year, and in incentives for the outgoing one, it was about $7000 more for a 2021 in Canadian Pesos for the same trim level. Now that will narrow as they introduce incentives on the 2021, but it's a more expensive truck, all those new features aren't free.

No thanks. Too many gadgets and stuff for my liking. I'm still hoping my '15 is my last truck. If not, a low mileage gently used '17 will do just fine. Plus I'm not all that thrilled with the front end or the side view mirrors.
