I have a 2018 F-350 and tow fairly heavy while maxing out my payload on a daily basis. My trailer brakes are the standard electric brakes that come on most trailers. They’re ok. It would be pretty expensive to switch the trailer brakes to disk so I’m thinking about upgrading my truck brakes. What would be the way to go when upgrading the truck brakes to something with solid reliability, long service life and the best stopping power for towing and hauling heavy?
Thanks
Wildwood 6 piston caliper/15" rotor set will run about 2,500 an axle, plus installation. Might be cheaper to work on the trailer.
Holy cow! Well.....that’s kinda what I was expecting to pay on the trailer. I do carry a heavy/max payload daily, sometimes over, and tow several different trailers. Only one trailer is really heavy though.
Yep, you're way better off economically just upgrading the trailer brakes to discs. Also I bet the performance would be better since the trailer will contribute more of a share of the braking.
I upgraded my Arctic Fox 29-5T two years ago to disc brakes. They should come this way from the factory. Huge difference in braking compared to the electric drum brakes.
Do you pull every day? Just curious since I do and I was hoping to get an apples to apples comparison. Also.....do you have any idea how many miles to expect form those pads and rotors when pulling every day?
