i am new to this site hope all are doing fine. Went for a ride today and the blower motor was not working. then when i tried to use the blinkers they were not. working. so i tried the reading lights just to see and they were not working. so went back home and opened the hood to check the compressor and the clutch was not engaged. turned off the truck and checked the 30A fuse for the blower, position 9 in the fuse box. looked fine so i put it back in. turned the key to the on position and everything was working again. anyone have an idea what the issue could be? would like to get this figured out before it brakes for good.
It sounds like your ignition switch was not in the correct position for whatever reason or something with the ignition switch is failing. I'm not sure what you meant by the reading lights?
88n94, Thanks for the reply. By reading lights I was referring to the two small lights on either side of the dome light that can be turned on independently with their own switch. also I was driving so I don't believe it is an issue with the position of the ignition switch
Thanks for the info about the switch. is this difficult to change out?

Not terribly hard to change the switch. Remove 2 phillips head screws holding the plastic cowling together around the steering column, the screws accessible from the bottom side. Remove 2 0r 4 bolts holding the steering column to the dash and drop the steering column down. The actual electrical part of the ignition switch is a few inches forward of the key tumbler. But before you replace the switch, make sure the linkage going to it is not sticking causing the switch at times to not spring back to it's normal positions. The key tumbler could be somewhat gummed up as well as the rod between the key tumbler and the switch. Spray these well with WD40 or equivalent to make sure they are free. Good luck with it.
