E4OD Rebuild
I am finally starting the restoration on my 97 4x4 7.3 F250HD. I am rebuilding the transmission first. The current state of the tranny is drivable with barely any power in reverse and probably a loss of power in the forward gears. I am trying to stay closer to original configuration then not but I am going to end up putting in some very modest performance upgrades.
I am going to overhaul/update/reprogram the entire thing with the info from transmission bench and some upgrades on the materials. I am not a transmission guy I've only ever worked on a couple and this is the first tow/heavy duty one. So my questions are should I get a different torque converter? New oem? low stall etc I don't really know what's good in the e4od. What's the common failures what should I purchase new oem for even if it's serviceable?
Transmission bench is a great video but hes got you doing alot of piece meal evaluations to determine reuseabilty. I don't want this thing to fail again or at least for another 200,000.

From what I've heard, 1600-1800 RPM stall is optimal for these engines. A good triple disc converter and the tugger mods and you'll have a pretty stout E4OD without breaking the bank. This is what I plan on doing eventually if I don't kill my E4OD first and go with a BTS...
