2005 - 2007 Headlight Upgrade Question

Hi Guys,

Been researching the headlight issue and have resolved to go for an OEM 2005 F350 pair of headlights, as my truck came with some ebay knock offs that just plainly suck.
I did not find any packaged headlight assembly that convinced me to spend the $$$, either too expensive (with no reviews) as Recon sets or other Chinesebay sets, from Spyder HL´s to the hundred options that are on that site. I went through the 1Auto options as well with a new bulb and did not convince me for the looks.

So getting down to business, im looking at a set of 2005 HL´s, and a pigtail 9007/9008 to H13 conversion as in: https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/9007-...s-pigtail-set/. I am assuming the PO did not damage, cut-off or replace the OEM harness when installing the chinese spyders. Perhaps I should check beforehand... But its hard for me to know what im looking for since i´ve never seen OEM.

That takes me too the next step of the equation and too my simple question: Will any LED H13 serve as a replacement (and upgrade) to the stock bulb? Im looking at something like this:
Amazon Amazon
.

If anyone´s willing, please chime in. Sorry if this has been posted before, but I did do some research among the several HL threads and the answer did not pop up.

Long live our Ford´s.

Don't recall what bulbs our trucks (or the 2005-2007's) take offhand. But if it is the H13's, then you should have no problems with those (don't recall if any clearance issues behind the bulbs). For what its worth, I have those same bulbs you linked on Amazon (but in H11's) on my SxS utv, and they are very bright..... OEM 2005-2007 headlights would be best if you can find a good deal, but I purchased a set of 2005-2007 Harley headlights from 1A Auto and have no complaints. I used higher quality halogen bulbs when I installed them.

So I have the upgraded 05 housings, and those Beamtec LEDs but in the stock 9007 bulb size instead of H13
The lights are very bright, white not blue. And light output is much cleaner than the yellowed stock housings, with nice cutoff against the garage wall. However, light projection with the LED sucks. After about 50foot the light peters out rapidly and you might have another 10-15 foot of dim illumination, which is odd because they will light up a reflective street sign hundreds of feet away.

I also have a DIY upgraded headlight wiring harness, of 12g wires from the battery to relays triggered by the stock 18gauge headlight wires, so it's not like I'm not hurting for power to the bulbs.

Did you need to install a different relay to run the LED´s?

Anyone here running xenon´s? How do they compare to LED projection?

Install a relay for headlights
Need, no. Want to, yes.
Now I can upgrade to HID, laser, plasma, or whatever the cool kids are doing, and not worry about frying the tiny stock wires.

The "special" LED relay you are probably thinking about is for flashers, or if you have a vehicle that detects the voltage drop in the exterior lights and throws a code if you don't swap them out for LEDs with resistors. Which defeats one purpose of going LED in the first place, using less wattage thru stock wiring

Hi, just to round up, here is the setup i´ll be going with:

- 05-07 HL´s from Riffraff
- LED H13 Bulbs from amazon
Amazon Amazon
- EBAY HL harness USA made https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hi-Low-Head...8/162141907457

Shouldnt need the harness pigtail set from RR as the ebay harnes is made for H13.

Looks like you've already made your purchase, but I did a Morimoto Bi-LED projector retrofit in to some China made 05-07 lights. The light output is outstanding and has a sharp horizontal beam cutoff.
