Ok question is does a 2005 sd have halogen capsule, or sealed beam headlights

 

Both. The XL has sealed beams, all others have halogen bulbs.

 

thanks, looking at hid's for my truck and can only find them for the halogen style, so works perfect, thanks.

 

If you find a conversion kit to go from sealed beam to:

A) HID

B) LED

Alright, im on ebay right now, made an offer on a set of hid's for halogen headlights and my fog lights, havent found a set for sealed beam. If i do ill pm you.

 

If you look into Hella lights, you should be able to find a replacement for your sealed beam that uses replaceable halogen bulbs, then you should be able to find a HID kit to replace that halogen bulb. I didnt look for your particular application, but they make replacement housings for most sealed beams, to convert them to regular halogen bulbs.

 

Thanks there. I know that solution, but it seemed kludgy to me -- especially with the motor to move the base of the HID to give high beams.

I am more interested in a more engineered / integrated solution.

That is why I am stalling and using my sealed beams still.

 

Ordered the kit for my low beams and my fog lights, should be here friday along with some new tires, ill post some pics.
