Valve Seat Question

Based on my minimal knowledge, a hardened valve seat that has been installed on heads should be easily identifiable as it will show a "separate" edge between the valve and the head. Is this a correct statement?

valve seats

Mike, yeah, if an engine has hard seat inserts, you'll be able to see them when the heads are off. There will be an obvious ring of differant material around the valve. DF
