So the pipe/hose that connects my intercooler to the throttle body has about a 1” split. So far, it has not impacted engine operability and I am being careful not to push it. The hose seems rather flimsy for something that is supposed to hold pressure. It’s apparently not a rare occurrence for these to pop. I’ve also seen that Ford has changed the part # on these a few times and I’m not sure if there is a design change or what. So my question is this:
1) What is the current/best Motorcraft part to replace my blown hose?
2) Is it a better idea to go with one of the aftermarket kits that is made to be a little sturdier?
Stock engine/stock boost/no plans to tune it. Thanks
Take a look at SPE Diesel, they make a decent replacement. I wouldn't replace it with another Ford part that's prone to the same failure. You're lucky it didn't leave you stranded. I can't picture how yours failed and didn't impact driveability, usually you aren't able to build boost meaning you're SOL.
I don't like to make a lot of modifications to my trucks, but replacing that ****ty pipe is one I will be doing. I'm with @Pugga and am happy it didn't leave you stranded.
I ordered the one from H&S. Honestly all the aftermarket options look pretty solid. Many are out of stock. I'll try to get some pics from the install. Looks pretty straightforward.
I replaced the cac pipe on my 2013s with the Rudy's kit. Not sure if it's the same part for newer 6.7s but it was barely over $100 a couple years ago. And pretty decent quality.

I did this with my '11 as well. When I wanted to replace my CAC on my'19,I couldn't find anything from Rudy's,so I went with Pushers hot/cold pipes.Little spendy I know, but damn they are pretty.

I wanted to do the pusher pipe but I can't get a solid answer if you can run their pipe on a stock truck without any tune.

Mine is stock except for an S&B cold air intake, and it runs just fine....no codes,no nothing.I was concerned changing both hot and cold sides,if it mattered, but I rationed they're only moving air.
I did the Pusher intercooler pipe combo as well.
They have two versions. One that has an adaptor to use on a stock truck, and a adaptor that replaces the throttle valve which requires a tune.
I am still loving my truck but I did just have my first serious issue at 50k miles while on vacation. After much research, apparently a very common problem.
2017 6.7coldsideintercoolerhose which is an unshielded rubber hose will split/burst right around 50k miles. Kind of sucks since it will leave you stranded unless you have a roll of duck tape on hand to patch and limp to repair shop. This hose material is not designed hold up under the heat. There are several better after market products you can order that are not much more than the $125 OEM replacement........but ordering one will obviously not get you down the road if stranded. Will be ordering a better hose soon.
Yes, it is a common problem, but in the 7 years I had my 2013 and 76K miles it never failed. Probably because I had a OEM one on board. Sold the truck but still have the pipe.
My 2020 is different so the pipe is on the shelf now. Was glad to have it and a set of fuel filters on board.
I had the same issue with my 2017 F-250 SD and wound up replacing the radiator hose and the intercooler cold side tube. I went stock because I was still getting a code on the engine and wound up taking it to the dealer. You can read the thread here:
