I have an '84 F-150...351W HO..C-6...Went to the car wash today, and gave it a good shot underneath..from oil pan back..Got in , headed home...and it didn't shift to second. Pulled over..started again and shifted manually through the gears..OK there..Started again..still in First ...Any suggestions before it goes to shop ?..(truck has 118K miles )..thanks..JV..
THAT was my first thought. I haven't been under the truck in ages..and have owned it 15 years..and added 10 miles in that time. Is there a diagram somewhere that I could look at to see if, in fact..that's what I did ? The last C-6 I messed with was in my Cobra replica with a 289 HIPO..and that was 25 years ago !..
It is just a vacuum hose that runs down to the passenger side of the transmission to a fitting in the side of the C-6. If you knocked it loose it may be just hanging there swinging in the breeze.
You guys were right. The hose is hanging down. The modulator has just a stub to reattach it. I assume it just pushes on as far as possible..or did a piece of the stub break off ?...thanks.j..
Well...I cut about 1/2" off both ends. Pushed hose back in place..Took it down my private road on my farm..a bit bumpy..then out on the highway for a few tests..Seemed fine..Got home...looked..still in place. I humbly thank everyone for the help..jv...
Must have missed a key stroke,,Should have read 10K miles in 15 years...I just don't drive it much. In 2009 I bought a Hummer with 25K miles..Just turned 29K. I drove my 450SL 800 miles last year.. The one that gets driven is a 2016 Escape 2.0 Turbo. Turned 100k last week on way back from N. Carolina. I've been retired for 15 years since I sold my share of our business in Florida to my business partner. My wife retired at the same time..We were 57. Sold our house in Florida and moved to our farm in the Ozarks..THAT'S why I don't go far..very often. ( I told the kids that they come to see US !)..I really appreciate the help from the forum. I posted pics. of the bucket seat/console install that I did......and the matching trailer that we built. Probably in the archives...Thanks again..jv..
I guess if you don't need to go anywhere that would keep the miles off.
Just driving my truck to work and back, about 35 miles each way, I have about 4k on my truck in less than a year.
I have about 5 years before I can retire and I can put some good time into another project I started too many years ago.

Guys...Retirement is great..You will soon wonder how you ever had time for a real "job". You will stay busy..and if you run out of things to do..your wife will gladly fill in the time !
