I can’t get my tpms to train. This has been a on going thing. I put 17 raptor wheels on my 2017 f150 had new sensors installed when mounted.
did research ok I ok train them. Don’t need to pay shop 50 to do something I can do. So help me out here why don’t it work.
I'm not actually sure if you can just let air out of a Ford to activate the sensor for the learning. It may work, but AFIK that is a GM thing.
key on press brake, release, on- off -on 3 times ending in on, press brake then repeat on-off-on 3 times. Horn will beep and it's now in re learn mode. This is where letting air out may work. You go LF, RF, RR, LR and then it will chime and re learn is complete.
If letting air out does NOT work. You need a cheap TPMS activator like this.
'17 F150 and Raptor should both be 315 MHZ and take the same sensor. Ford does use a couple different 315 MHZ sensors though
This is why I use Autel MX sensors at work. They program to 99% of vehicles and you can re program them if you get it wrong. BUT you need an Autel tool to make it work
Before you changed rims and sensors did the TPMS system work correctly?
Did you replace all four OEM sensors with aftermarket ones?
If yes what brand did you use?
You will need to get a TPMS tool to train them, letting the air out does not work on Fords.
Remember that the sensors screw into the valve stems so thats where you have to point the tool.
is the Ford specific tool that myself and at least 4 other techs at my dealer use.
You may be able to find it cheaper on EBay.
You may be able to get a shop/dealer to train them for free if you go in and ask to know why your TPMS light is on, the training and testing procedure is the exact same, to test them I just remember which ones wont train and that must be the bad sensor. Maybe there is something wrong with the new sensors so this wont work but it wont cost you anything but some time in the waiting area.
Yes I have other sensors there in old wheels I’m going to buy other tires for them so I can have 2 sets.
Ahh okay.
With that being and if you still can’t get them to work properly, I’d just start over with a brand new set of OEM Ford TPMS sensors, if possible, return the set you have for a refund, and call it a day.
When we get the tires rotated, it takes a couple of miles and/or a couple of restarts, and the truck just seems to figure it out. What's different here?
They are 315 MHz. Another question is what psi should be running in tires. The tires says 45 psi.
The pressure molded onto the sidewall of the tire is generally the MAX air pressure that tire is allowed to run. On my pickup the tires say 80 psi but unless I'm hauling a heavy load my air pressure is ~ 60 psi.
@GlueGuy You are talking about the same sensors, OP's issue is that he has four sensors which the vehicle is not trained to speak to.
Its like if I go pick up my four friends but instead your four friends are there to be picked up but I will not recognize them so I will not pick them up unless you introduce them to me.

Ah. Missed that detail. Thanks for the clarification.
