If you can find some engineering numbers and date codes cast into the trans and bellhousing, or metal ID tag, we can narrow it down a little more. My guess is it looks to be a 60's-70's Ford truck 3 speed trans, imho, based on the short stubby tailshaft, 2 shifter fork linkage attachment, and what appears to be a cast iron bellhousing in the small block bolt pattern. (which was also used on the 300-6)

RAB is a Ford 3.03 all synchro 3 speed, intro'd in 1963. They were found in almost anything Ford (and some GM) made with a manual trans as standard, or all synchrol 3 speed as an option. That is probably a '70s one.
possible it came off a flathead 8 or go with an idea the truck was a 6 cylinder 3 speed standard.

If it came out of a 49, it was because someone else put it there, behind something else. It's not original to any 49, and that bell housing will not fit a flathead anything.
