Hello, and here I go!

New member
Hello to all! I am trying to bring back a family heirloom from years of being used as a DD/ work horse, and victim of some neglect. My dad bought this F250 new in the fall of 1966. It is a 1967 Camper Special , Ranger pkg. with an in-line 300-6cyl., granny low 4spd. Dad sent this thing off to a body shop, to have some rust repair done, and a fresh repaint, in it’s original Wimbledon White. The body man kept it 4.5 years, and only managed to do some rust repair, a botched paint job, and Finally quit working on it completely, until my dad decided to just go get it out of the shop. Anyway, I have decided that I am going to make the repairs complete and jump into the mechanical side of things, including rebuilding, (and possibly converting the drum brakes to power front disk) if possible. Also, I have decided to install an Offenhauser intake with Hedman header (complete with Holley 390 CFM 4V) I have been lurking on this forum for a couple of years now trying to get a better understanding of how this intake, header and carb should be mounted, hooked up, tuned. Thanks for all the help, pictures and advice. All suggestions are very much appreciated. I will try to post pictures if possible.

Firewall metal repair, engine refresh, and paint complete

Intake, header, and carburetor installed but not hooked up

Completed interior

I've always been impressed by anyone building a strong 6. It sounds like you have the perfect combo, to get it done just right. As a side note, imagine, with everything a Super Duty is expected to do these days, having an in line 6 as a standard engine!

It sounds like you know your way around, so drop down to the state chapters and give them a shout and your support.

Thanks!

Thanks for the warm welcome y’all! Yes sir, it is hard to believe that so much more horsepower and “stuff” is needed these days- as I remember this truck hauling cattle in the bed(with cattle racks of course) giant trailer loads of hay and equipment, as well as everything else that is required for a truck in 53 years. The 300- 6 is strong, coupled with the camper special suspension, and four-speed driveline make it mighty. My son and I, (who is 15)are trying to get this rig put together, and sorted out quickly, so my mom and dad, who are now in their mid-80s, can take their truck out for it’s second “go-around“.
I need to reach out to my local chapter, and maybe someone there can provide insight on this manifold, and how others have hooked up the accelerator cable and heated plenum.
I will try to post pictures as this progresses but perhaps I need to start a build thread as well.
