Help buying a used ABS control module to STOP pulling while braking.
TL;DR: I need to replace my ABS module. Going to just replace the electrical part. My production date is 8/2000. Any quality source for either a good used or reman module? The number on the module in my truck is: YC35-2C346-DB
Hello all. So ever since I bought my Excursion, Ive been chasing the weirdest brake pull. Ultimately, Ive determined that the ABS module has electrically failed. I have been pulling to the left while braking, but occasionally it wont pull or will pull to the right. Due to wear, corrosion and loose parts Ive overhauled my front brakes (new OE pads and rotors, Ford factory reman front calipers), new front ball joints, new hub bearings, rebuilt the front axles, resealed the front axle hubs etc. While I was secretly hoping one of these parts was causing my issue, I knew that there was no way a hard part would cause random pulls to either direction.
Today I had a random ABS light on that apparently turned off the ABS module as I was NOT pulling while braking. I pulled the ABS fuse and performed a series of panic stops. Where I'd pull HARD left panic stopping, with the fuse pulled and ABS light on I stopped nearly straight. My corroded tie rods and drag link not allowing me an alignment after suspension repairs probably contributing to the negligible drift that remains. The only thing I can think of is that when powered on, the module is partially closing a vale in the actuator.
I think I know the origin of the issue. I had a serious electrical issue that I fixed earlier this year. Aftermarket "bolt on" battery cable terminals were installed on my truck by the previous owner and causing low voltage and intermittent no voltage situations. I suspect that during this period of time where the truck had essentially dirty power going through it, the ABS module became broken electrically, but no fault was detected. I replaced both battery cables and have not experience any electrical issues save for the ABS module.
I realize that I have few options for used and reman. I cannot afford a new one, as there are a handful that pop up when searching. I also have a production break between 11/2000 and 12/2000 where the module is different. Unfortunately, my build date is 8/2000.
Any help steering me to a quality used/reman part would be greatly appreciated!
can you bleed the abs module first? i think the function is in Forscan
Performed a full bleed on the system twice as I had to replace the calipers a few weeks apart. Even with a firm pedal, it still pulled. Just made no sense.

only way to bleed the abs module is electronically I believe, you did that?
The ABS module can only be bled by a dealer or the DIY Forscan software, not VIA the bleed screws on each wheel. I definitely felt air through the brake pedal when bleeding the ABS module with Forscan as you have to keep pressure on the pedal when the module is activating.
I'll agree that you will.want to bleed the ABS unit before replacing it to eliminate that as the source of your problem. I have Forscan to do it, but any shop with a high end scanner will be able to do it, not just Ford dealers. My shop has a Snap On scan er that will bleed our ABS.

I've heard there's a simple method to bleed the ABS module... find a gravel or dirt road and do numerous braking stops that trigger the ABS to activate. Then drive home and re-bleed your calipers. (a rainy wet surface would work too)
I recently had to replace a few rusted brake lines. I manually bled the brakes following the common procedure but afterward, the pedal was squishy. I did the above and the pedal firmed right up. Then just re-bled the calipers to get the air that the ABS unit discharged to further down the line.
