92 ford ranger

i have a 92 ford ranger that mises real bad especially when its idling, my father told me it could have a burnt vavle but i'm not sure, it lacks power, hard starts, it runs alittle better when its warmed up. iwas wondering if anyone has an idea of whats going on. any advice is appreciated.

i havn't since i've had it i just bought it a year ago and it had to have a new transmissin

Well, A tune up is certainly the place to start.

While the tune up is being done, do a compression test. Oh . . and pressure test the cooling system too (something I am learning needs to be monitored regularly from this list!).
