I was reading about this in my haynes manual...and I was wondering if this is something thats replacable (2bbl motorcraft carb) or if you need to buy a new carb to replace (forgive me if that sounded stupid I really dont know)
That seems to be the problem (according to what the haynes book described that I was reading during Fin. 3 accting today) anyway, truck starts runs great...truck drives great...start to slow down and it stalls.
I've had a bunch of suggestions but after reading this I'm almost convinced its it (and I know the fuel filter needs to be changed and thats not helping but I had this problem last winter as well)
And to put another question in here: How bad would a clogged fuel filter hamper performance...because I know mines really clogged but I think the idiot at CT gave me the wrong one and I haven't had time to take it apart and find out.
All,
Aren't these trucks slow enough without a "Decel valve"? Here's what I recommend: Remove the "Decel Valve" and replace it with an "Acell Valve". That should make it much faster!
Secondly, your post describes a clogged fuel filter to the TEE. Yes, it makes all the difference in the world! When you go to buy a replacement filter, buy two or three. Keep them in your glove box with the condoms, you can never be too safe!

A decel valve is a spring loaded stopper that lets the throttle come down to just above an idle, then slowly easy the rest of the way down.
If the filter is clogged, then the fuel level may be too low and when you stop, the fuel sloshes away from the jets and starves for fuel.
