When a new fuel pump is installed on a 239 flathead V8, does it need to me primed in any way? Any need to fill the glass bowl with fuel? Or should cranking the engine be enough to start the pump flowing?
What Scott said.
Some misconceptions about the glass bowl; It's a sediment/decanting bowl. The inlet is in the top center of the housing where the fuel enters and swirls around and the heavy solids and water are settled out, and the fuel then passes up through a very fine screen into the outlet ports on each side of the inlet. In short, you can run out of gas and the bowl will still appear full.
