Hi, 89 5.8 c6 e350. Front fuel tank... When filling it up with gas, once you get about 1/2 full, the fuel pump shuts off. Numerous gas stations so the issue is with the van. Van runs fine off front tank. No such issues on the rear tank. Vent issue? Any other places to check?

Look to see if the neoprene fuel filler hose has collapsed. Some of these have a neoprene vent hose, check that too.
Which tank did that valve come out of? I may be wrong on this but i remember looking at the manual for my 88 E150 and the valve with 2 connections was in the rear tank?
Does your gas cap screw in to the filler neck or does the filler neck have notches for the tangs on the gap to fit into? What is your vans wheelbase? I am guessing that you have a standard cargo =138" wheel base or a extended =158" wheelbase. Also in my last post to you I ask about the vent "Which tank did that valve come out of?"
Rock auto shows 2 different midships fuel tanks for your van. One shows a connection for the filler tube and filler tube vent hose but the second tank does not show a vent hose connection for the filler neck.
Since you had the tank dropped, which one of these two tanks do you have?
This tank is the one with the filler neck vent tube connection
This one does not appear to have the filler neck vent connection on the tank.
If the filler neck vent tube is damaged or blocked in any way then it can cause problems will filling the tank
Do you have a Ford service manual for your 89 E350? The pages I shared are from my 1988.
