Good catch thado, yes cast iron block, aluminum heads. All the more reason for a very light application of silver permatex anti seize when changing plugs.
2 questions:
Am I correct that the Permatex, silver Anti-Sieze is conductive for the DCV?
Does the 7.3 gas have a bed plate like the 6.0 TD to stiffen the bottom of the block?
THx
Don't know about conductiivity .. Thought all never seize
forumlas conducted electric current ..
No bed plate, Long block skirt with 6 main bearing bolts ..
4 from the bottom 2 from the sides like 60's 427 side bolt !!
In the Super Duty, the 7.3L is very very easy to access items like spark plugs. You can also very easily access the exhaust manifolds.....soooooo much room in the engine compartment with the 7.3L. It actually looks kinda small in there! A push rod V8 is just so compact vs the SOHC 6.2L or DOHC 5.0L (Mustang, F-150) that I'm used to working on.
I've got a 7.3L Super Duty and absolutely love it. I do all my own maintenance.
