Need help.
my esof is not working. I am trying to get it working before winter.
all fuses good. Shift motor seems good tried swapping with my brothers new motor mine still won’t work.
all fuses good tested with test light.
relays replaced.
moduel under the dash replaced by Ford.
Is there any other part I should be looking at, or does anyone know of common issues?
mom not the greatest st tracing wires, and my budget doesn’t allow me to take to a shop for who knows how long right now.
Sounds like it might be wiring issue with either a broken wire or bad or dirty connector plug. Clean and check the connector for loose pins or damaged wire to pin matings. Give the wiring harness a good look to see if there is any external damage that needs further inspection.
As Tom said, I'd check the wiring for obvious chafing. It runs from the relays under the hood, drivers side, near the firewall down and along the inside of the frame and to the transmission and transfer case.
A few more questions...
1. Do the light on the dash come on?
2. Are you in one of the proper modes of operation? (I.e.- Any gear for 4WD high and at low speed, OR Park/Neutral with your foot on the brake for 4WD low)
So what it not working? Is the transfer case not shifting into 4wd? Or are the hubs not engaging? You might just have a vacuum leak. Have you tried manually locking the hubs?

as far as I can tell I’m not getting any power to the shift motor.
Swapped with a known good motor just to test if the motor was bad. Neither motor works.
new relays have been installed. And fuses all good.

thank you
yes I will start to trace and check wiring.
I have the wiring diagram book if you should happen to want to see a certain circuit.
thanks.
mine arrived a short while ago.
I bought a complete set of factory service manuals off eBay.
just need to figure it all out.
electrical is not my strong area.
I am thankful to all that have helped with certain areas to look.
I am hoping that I continue to get great information that will help point to certain known problem areas of the wiring.
