Our 2016 Navigator L Select has "Drive Control Malfunction Service Required" in the message center. It comes up on every startup and I haven't found much of anything online on what to look for. I have some codes for intermittent misfire which I'm looking into but then have a C110C:13-0A from the VDM. I have Forscan on my laptop and Forscan light on my iPhone. Not sure where to start on this. The option in the settings menu is grayed out for selecting the drive mode. I have a whine in the front end which I feel might be the transfer case but not sure if this has anything to do with it or not. I have two 7.3L Powerstrokes so its been a little while since dealing with a gas engine. I have an appointment at the dealership but it is a few weeks out and trying to resolve on my own if possible as well as understand if this can cause other damage.
As an update if anyone looks at this in the future, I found some vague comment about another issue with the Drive Control Malfunction message stating that any one sensor in the system will make it fail. Some further searching found my code to point at the left front damper solenoid. I started tracing all connections and found one to be disconnected. Searching for the other side of this connection I found two wires with no physical connector. After stopping at the Ford dealership and talking to the parts counter we found what we believed to be the correct connector. I ended up ordering it from the parts store instead so I could attempt the repair before my dealer appointment for other issues. This one connection resolved the code and restored my access to the Drive Control menu allowing me to choose between Sport/Normal/Comfort. Hopefully this helps someone later as I have been finding very little technical details so far.
I just had my 18 Navi at the dealer for the same drive control malfunction. Interesting enough the foreman found a left rear damper open circuit and was able to 'program' the error out with a new service bulletin. I was not there the day they programmed it and didn't have much say since it was new warranty repair but it hasn't popped up since. Maybe this will help someone in the future.
I have a 2017 Navigator with the 3.5L ecoboost, and 140,000 miles on it. I just purchased it about 4 months ago. I have had a few things to fix right after I got it. Front drive shaft, ( because of whine noise at 65 mph)
spark plugs, (because of misfire), now I have a drive control malfunction. Looking online it appears to be a big problem. Is there any service bulletins on this? If not, they should!
