Gear ratio

I know there’s bunch of threads on this but I have a couple issues. My driver door was swapped with another truck so I can’t get the axle number. Truck is a 1996 f-350 with a ZF5

at 65 in 5th I’m at 2000 rpm

can anyone give me ideas on what rear end ratio I have? I have 285/75 tires all around so my speedo is slightly off but not much. I think 65 on the speedo is actually like 67 or something like that

I thought of that. Do they have the axle code or the ratio on it?

Should be a combo. It usually indicates stock ratio and if it was limited slip.

Here's a site thats been linked before. Shows my diff as a 3.55 Limited slip. Not sure thats accurate lol.

You probably have 4.10 judging that I have 3.55 and 305 55 20( 33") I run 2000 rpm at 75mph
One way to check is to mark one of your drums and back plate and pinion yoll to diff housing then turn the yolk by hand and see how many turns it took to do a complete turn om the drum if it turned 3.5 turns you have 3.55 if it took 4.turns 4.10. Pretty accurate in telling what gear you have and a good way to find gear rations on axels.

Probably 3.55 gears. Your description is pretty close to how mine behaves at similar speeds. I am also running 285s

Just pop the diff cover and read the numbers off the carrier.

You can change the gear oil in the rear diff at the same time and it'll be a win-win.

Thumbs up

Sounds like a 3.55:1 truck.

The dually does 2500rpm at 70mph on 245/75R16s in 5th gear. It has 4.10:1 gears.
