I'm been researching and trying to solve a problem with my 2001 Excursion 7.3 4X4. My truck was purchased with 35s. I'm not really sure what's causing my issue as it's intermittent. I'm just curious, when oversized tires are causing the problem. Is there a setting you can change?
My guess is that the computer in the vehicle is still set for the stock size tires, and the person that changed the tires didn't change the settings in the computer to reflect the new size, if you know someone who has Forscan they could change it for you, or a dealer can do it also (for a charge).
I have FORScan how can I check if it has been changed? The speedo is reading about 6 mph slower. Also if it's incorrect what value should be changed and what should I change it to? Throwing P0500, not trying to start a new thread.

Anthony
Can't say I've ever done it myself on my Super Duty, but I've read where others have. Perhaps you could ask in the Excursion forum (you're in the Super Duty forum at the moment), or do some searching in the Froscan forum, and find an answer that way.
To use forscan to change the speedometer you have to get into the abs module configuration and set the revolution per mile. Stock is 655ish I think. I just did this on my ex when switching to a 315 70 17 which was 604 rev per mile. At 70 mph it is 1 mph slow based on my phones GPS. Close enough.

The larger tires cannot cause this issue, whether or not the computer was updated for the new tire size. This code means there is something wrong with the VSS or with the wiring between the PCM and the VSS.
