So I am getting ready to service the 10r I got the fluid and filter from my dealer. I was just wondering if anyone has a service protocol on how to do it all correctly I hate paying the dealer when I have my own shop.
I will say that pan removal is a breeze on these of equipped with the 6.7.However I do extract fluid first as the mess is extremely bad otherwise. Make sure you fill correctly and the trans is at operating temperature when checking. Also important is initial fill or the pump will go dry.

As in the 2 qts or to fill it equal to the full plug?

No! The 10r140 requires 6 full quarts at initial fill. Anything less will damage the pump. You fill based on trans temp and dipstick reading. This is done with the truck running so its a tad hot to check. Never check fluid level with the truck off.
Also just for reference the Mercon ULV doesn't play well with any other fluids. Use dedicated filling devices and avoid long term skin contact. It will cause skin softening much the same as lye based degreaser.

Ill be using a fluid transfer hand pump designated for the new fluid and I always wear gloves. I have the ULV from my local dealer.

The MSDS lists inhaling vapors and mists as a danger. Be sure to wear your mask.
Mercon ULV is nasty stuff. Its a full Group V Ester and can be rough on a lot of things. Ironically its a great sludge cleaner, go figure.
I have used it before to clean out a gummed up head. It ate through years of sludge and deposits. I anytime I mess with anything that’s nasty. It’s gloves and mask.
Thanks for the info here everyone, can anybody confirm the attached PDFs and all info also applies exactly the same to the 2021 10R140 behind the 6.7 Powerstroke ?

Yes all the service procedures are the same for the 10R140 on the 21’s and 22’s. I just looked at a 21 and same set up to do the service.
