You could work out a formula on how much de-ionized water you would need to add to a tank to bring the DEF back into spec. The difficult part would be to accurately determine how much fluid is in the tank. You could ballpark it and get it close. Last time I checked mine, my DEF was at 33% but I need to do it again after many months of high heat and see where it’s at now. Would have been much easier to just install a drain on the DEF tank and drain/replace as needed as I don’t drive the truck much. Truck almost a year old now and I have about 4800 miles on it.
The website is a little void of information about exactly what is in the stuff to make it superior. But, I did sign up to win the half ton Chevy diesel pick up. I see a big pay off coming for just a few minutes of my time and adding another batch of emails to my junk email address to delete everyday. Will be worth it though. I will probably sell the truck so will post it here after I take possession.
My DEF is what the factory put in the tank in Jan 2018, so coming up on three years. I don't tow or drive it much so I'm not using very much DEF. Down to a bit over half a tank now. And that is in the Texas heat, so evaporation that would upset the critical chemical balance can't be that significant. It also doesn't decompose sitting in the tank. I've never even had the cap off the filler.
Something strange here, I believe Old World Industries actually did research and submitted to SAE. However like most things the paper is looking for a unicorn of an issue. Apparently there is a slight chance of DEF buildup when exhaust temp is below 165c°. This wouldn't apply to any 6.7 because the system won't inject DEF below 400 degrees.
I also find it rather interesting that this product is purposely aimed at the retail market in 2.5 gallon boxes with a 80% price increase over regular and they use the word "Platinum". This seems like more marketing than substance. There is no bulk channel for this in 55gal like there is for traditional. They also say its high quality synthetic urea, well as we know all the urea is high quality synthetic and has to meet a standard 😉.
I just buy my DEF from the bulk pump when I fuel up in the truck lanes.
Certainly better for the environment. I wonder how much CO2 and Orcas die every time I chunk the heavy plastic DEF container into the trash at Walmart...

And A LOT cheaper. (Not that DEF is a huge expense but...)

I put my DEF jugs in the recycle bin. Or, I use them to hold the engine oil that comes out of my truck.
