I have a question for those that have installed chips in their trucks. Did you get what you expected out of your truck after you installed the chip. I am planing to buy one right after the first of the year, and just wanted a little extra added knowledge from you guys that have done this.
Also, where does the chip install. Does it go into the back end of the computer, I do feel a recessed hole under the silver tape on one end.
Thanks, in advance guys. I have gotten so much help from you all.
Hotrod, I myself do not have a chip in my truck, but I would defenetly do a lot of research on this subject if I were to get one. I have read a lot of threads on chips between this and several other forums. Some people think they are great, others have had a lot of problems. Transmission related problems. Some not noticing much of a defference in performance. The big thing is to get the right chip for your truck specs. Good luck.
I got a Superchip (used) for my 1996 F-150 about a year ago. The improvements were gradual as the computer relearned, I guess. Recently I took it out to go to the dealer and I could really tell the difference in the way the truck accelerated and shifted. I could not wait to get it back in. I have not noticed a great gain in milage, however. I enjoy the chip very much, the best $125 (used) I ever spent. Hope this helps. -- Martin
PS you will need you computer code found inside the door frame near the hinges. ex yaz3
