Im building my deceased dads 48 F1. It was wrecked in 1980...dont ask me how..lol.
Anyway he took the front clip off and Im doing my best to put it all back together.
Got it running, new brakes, interior etc.
Im new to this model, ready to assemble clip to truck, but was wondering what is the bolts, one on each side that helps

hold the inner fender on, its closest to the front of door. Its a nut and bolt with a clutter pin thru it, why has it got cotter pin? I tightened bolt down and the hole for the pin is way past the nut. Is it suppose to have a shim or something behind it. Any input would be appreciated.

That fastener might not belong there. That castle nut/cotter pin sort of looks like the one that holds the front cab mount to the frame.

Neither my '49 or the '51 had that type of fastener on the inner fender.

I don't know, the cab was never taken off and the bolts you mentioned are there. The ones I mentioned on mine dad had put one on each side in the same place. The pic is driver side the pass side has one same place also. So I don't know. Besides 5 fender to inner fender bolts that were left in place on 1 fender that's the only bolts on the front. Maybe they go else w her and he just stuck'em in there for whatever reason...???
Thanks for reply.

There should be a piece of anti-squeak between the inner fender and the cab. I think I have washers under the bolt head on the inside, anti squeak between the sheet metal, and a washer under the castle nut. See if that helps with the cotter pin alignment.

That might be it, I'll try it.
