line x typically remove the bolts.

Ford factory sprays right over them.

They often do that, if the dollar amount is below a certain level. It’s not worth the time and labor expense to investigate a small dollar claim.

At this point I was really besides myself , this cost a good penny and shipping was not cheap . I emailed the dealer on a Friday afternoon and stewed all weekend .

You're being very kind , I use different wording to describe them
I worked for UPS for a year and a half recently and 1, heavy steel items and cardboard don't mix, and 2, the delivery man was incorrect in that he couldn't take it back, he could if you refused it. We were instructed to ask the customer if they wanted to accept the package if it looked like something was missing or damaged. Yeah, you don't know if something is missing until you open it but once opened it is on the shipper to replace. If refused and not opened, it would be sent back to shipper on UPS's dime, then a replacement sent back out by shipper. Also, the delivery man is the last man in the shipping process. Meaning they don't even load the packages onto the delivery truck. They arrive to work with their trucks loaded and the only time they touch your package is when they grab it to take it to you or your front door. And don't forget, cardboard and heavy metal items don't mix, PERIOD! Don't blame UPS, blame the shipper for an inadequate shipping container.

Sorry for the off subject reply, but had to defend my brothers in brown, LOL. 🍻

Well , there ya go , settle for mediocrity instead of reasonable service , don't worry , insurance will cover it .
Not just UPS , but all delivery services out there , they are delivery services , experts on getting things delivered where it needs to go , supposedly reasonably safe and expeditiously . Even heavy metal and card board . I'll agree to disagree with you . The way things stand now I figure all is well that ends well .

On the plus side, if you're looking at a 290BH with a CCSB F250 gasser, I just picked mine up on Tuesday and can give you an idea of how it'll sit!


measured yesterday, rear wheel wells were about 44" unhooked and 42" with the trailer. I'm thinking I may put some Timbrens on it in the future but it felt amazingly stable towing it home as is. No mountains between the dealer and home, I'm sure it'll have to downshift and spin up when we get it into the Blue Ridge mountains next week but so far I'm extremely happy with the setup.

That's a sweet looking setup there BigBlue . That's pretty much what I'm looking for and your truck is close to mine spec wise . What are you using for a hitch ? Did you keep the pin box locked or do you have the wedge in there ?

I figured it might be useful as it's nearly the same setup you described you were going for. I have a pullrite superglide so I do have the pinbox locked. The wedge that comes with the turning point works with pullrite's head, I spoke to pullrite beforehand to confirm I wouldn't need anything else.

Also, I corrected my previous post, I had typed 42" wheel well height for both hitched and unhitched. It was actually 44" when unhitched.

Nice , I'm still up in the air over getting a slider or using the rotating pin box with a fixed fifth wheel . 2" of squat is less than what I would have expected so that's encouraging . Do you have the Ford puck system ? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions .

I do not have the puck system, but hopefully my next truck will be purchased new and ordered just the way I want it, and in that case I would opt for the OEM prep kit. I happened to have this hitch from my parents when they got rid of their 43' Fuzion toy hauler. I like it, but it's HEAVY. If I were buying my own I'm not sure I would go with it simply because getting it in and out alone is incredibly difficult. I may try just hanging it from the pinbox of the trailer when I need my bed space and hopefully that issue will be solved. Feel free to PM me so we're not spamming everyone else if you want.

Follow - up . Picked up a B&W Companion rvk3300 hitch last week and put it together and installed it on the factory pucks , fits perfect . Next Saturday me and the wife go to pick up a new Reflection 278BH , we were planning on a 290BH but they discontinued that model and the 278 is the model taking its place .

I ordered my new Curt hitch for my 2018 F-150 and when it arrived, it looked like it had been dropped from a 10 story building. The good news is those hitches are pretty hardy. I agree with the "heavy metal and cardboard" don't mix comment!

Yea , heavy metal and cardboard is a bad combination but , I think the numbers game from all the shippers has added to damaged items , lost items , etc . I just got the B&W Companion the other day , it came UPS in 2 seperate boxes , both boxed were in like new condition , they were both heavy . I was surprised , it seems ironic that I was surprised for getting an undamaged package from a delivery service that specializes in deliveries .

Well , we ended up getting a Grand Design Reflection 278BH , they discontinued the 290BH and the 278 was pretty close to what the 290 was so it fit our requirements . We got a B&W 3300rvk Companion to go with the Ford Puck System and it fit perfectly . We picked up the 278BH this past weekend , 225 miles away from home . Truck pulled it great , rode great , did not need to use the Turning Point Pin Box unlocked with the wedge , had plenty of cab clearance with pin box locked . My F250 dropped about 1 1/2" over back axle , it was not spongy or springy at all . There was no sway or wagging at all , it pulled rock solid . It was all highway driving and the 6.2 did good , there were some inclines and the truck never dropped below 60-65 mph , it did downshift to 4th once or twice and down to 5th more than a few times . Nothing over heated , engine , tranny , etc . Tires stayed cool , slightly warm to the touch . I did take the time and set up the Lippert TPMS with my smart phone after I got home (shows tire pressure and temp) . Overall I was quite pleased with the performance of the truck and the fifth wheel set up ,
