shifter boot & bezel replacement
1995 Ford F150 manual trans M5OD-R2 - trying to replace the shift boot and bezel. How do I do that. The shift lever appears to be two piece and should come apart so that I can replace the bezel that is on the floor and the shift boot. Hole on bezel is not big enough to go over shift lever. Pulling my hair out.

There is a bolt near the bottom of the shift lever that has threads on both ends. Take the nut off and put it on the threads on the other end and tighten the nut to remove the double sided bolt holding the shift lever on.

after removing shift lever, lube the hole with dish soap, and stretch rubber boot over the shift lever. It will be difficult, but can be done.
