Moved to Large Truck.

Welcome to FTE!

I can only do a partial decode for you:

vinwiz.com VIN Decoder

Built in March of '70 as a 1970 model in Kentucky.

Engine code W may be a Dorset diesel engine. Is there an in-line 6 cylinder oil burner in there?
See post 10:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...for-dummy.html

But your tag says 182 HP at 3800 RPM, not what I would expect from that engine. Just as in that example thread, your truck decodes to gas but has a diesel code.

24000 GVWR, you knew that.

You picture doesn't show axle and trans codes so if you post a picture of the whole tag and the engine you may get a more complete rundown.

FORD holley fir 391

Hi
I think you will be looking for a unit like this, just removed from my 391. IMO there is alot of value in being able to "hook up", linkage/vacuum & aircleaner rather than have to Mageyver a Summit one!

Love to tell you you can bolt on and drive BUT this should be rebuilt! Feel bad you don't have anything and I have it sitting here! It's not like I have to have hundreds of dollars ....is more the time to drain, clean box and ship ! LOL

What carb and manifold is on it? If it's on a standard 2 or 4 bbl manifold, it will be a lot easier to convert. Since it's propane only, you will have to get the entire fuel system. Being a C series makes such work a little easier.

Pictures will help sort some things out. Do you have a block off plate where the fuel pump mounts on the engine?

C70 = C700 Tilt Cab.

W = Dorset 363 cid 6 Cylinder Diesel.

V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.

H85530 = 1970.

135" Wheelbase.

M = Wimbledon White.

C700 = C700 Tilt Cab, 24000 lbs. GVWR

4A8: 4A = Black Vinyl / 8 = 91A Standard Cab.

M = Clark model 285V 5 Speed Direct.

GH7:

GH = Eaton model 17221 Two Speed Rear Axle / 6.50/8.87 / 18,500 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.

7 = Rockwell/Timken 12,000 lbs. Capacity Front Axle with Center Point Steering.

24,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

182 net HP @ 3,800 RPM (seems wrong for a Dorset).

530095:

53 = Kansas City MO Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

0095 = Domestic Special Order number, truck ordered special by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."

NOTE: Dorset was not installed after 1969, and this is a 1970. But it also has a 6 digit DSO, so the original purchaser may have specified the Dorset.

The W VIN engine code could also have been stamped in error.
