Radiator size

I’m almost finished with my build but I’m stuck on what size radiator to put in it. It’s a 53 F-100 with a 302 that is putting out around 380 hp. The guy working on it says I need a 4 row but I don’t really want to spend extra if I only need a 2 or 3 row. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I am running a 3 core aluminum radiator with a 429 motor. Runs very cool, even here in AZ!

With aluminum radiators, you will find the better models have only two rows of tubes. But, they are very wide tubes, 1-1/2", 1-1/4", 1-1/8" or 1". The wider tubes offer more cooling capacity. Most of the low cost and imported aluminum radiators have three and four rows of 1/2" or 5/8" wide tubes. I have a couple of imported radiators with two rows of 1-1/8" wide tubes.

Copper/brass radiators have smaller width tubes. That is why it's common to see them in three and four row configurations.

US Radiator has some information on the different core types. U.S. Radiator: Made in the USA
