I have recently restored a 1952 F1 pickup and can't get it to run properly and am wondering in anyone knows of a person or garage around St Augustine that I could get to look at it.
Welcome to the forum. That is a very good looking truck; attention to detail. I am on the other side of the state, just a bit too far away to help. What is the old truck doing? Well explained problems usually get attention and result in good answers..
As Ray stated . Welcome to the forum . The best site in the world for old FORD trucks . Yours looks so very nice in stock form . Great job ! Elaborate on the problem . To cap of the five star extra package a bright metal windshield molding would look great . Congrats on the truck . How long for the resto ?
It cranks and runs OK but seems to idle a little to high but the problem ie when you are driving it and let off the gas for a stop light, it dies every time.
This is the way it looked when I brought into my shop.
The truck had been partially dissembled and some body begun over a period of several years. The guy doing the work for the owner passed away and the owner became disinterested and I purchased it and it set out side for a couple years, then I sandblasted it, primed it to keep it from rusting again and brought it to my shop in Florida in July of 2016 and started the restoration. As it turns out everything was there except the hood latch. I did all the work except the engine and the upholstery. I sent it out and the machine shop rebuilt the engine and when I re installed it and put fluids in it, the block was cracked and I had to purchase another block and have it rebuilt again. The guy stood behind his work as he did not magnifluk the block the first time.
First Rider, you asked about the stainless rim around the windshield. I have it but did not understand that it needed installing in the windshield rubber gasket before the windshield was installed. I installed the windshield and did not realize this and do not want to take it out for fear of cracking the windshield.
Beautiful truck you have...... I'm guessing start with the carburetor......they can be kind of finicky .....idle, air mixture....double check it.....and I kind of agree....I would not risk taking that windshield out just to add the stainless molding.....again beautiful truck you have there....

two things come to mind (actually more) check for vacuum leaks and carburetor float setting.
What have you done to check the engine's idle.
I had a similar problem. Checked my timing, made sure the vacuum lines didn't have leaks, etc.
What I ended up doing was changing the idle adjustment stop for the throttle, so the engine idled little higher. That seemed to solve the problem.
You did a great restoration job on that 52. Gives me inspiration to get going on mine.Perhaps you could post some of your restoration work.........I am in particularly interested in fenders.......as they are the big rust offenders.
