I had the Ford ESP premium on my 2013 F150 that paid for a new shortblock at 42,000 miles after the #4 piston broke a piece of the skirt off and dropped it in to the oil pan. So I'm definitely a fan of an extended warranty. It's cheap by way of comparison for the things that can go wrong usually right after the factory warranty expires.

Having said that I took a different approach this time and bought a CNA National Warranty through the broker I ordered my truck from. He's been selling for years and highly recommends. They pay claims on the spot over the phone via credit card, no hassles.

I got a 10 year/100,000 mile, $100 deductible Z2 plan (like premium covers everything but typical wear parts) for $2,631. Comparing when I did I think there are a few parts that it covers that the ESP does not. Big reason for going this direction was the extra 2 years of coverage. Likely not gonna hit the mileage mark in that time frame, but wanted to keep my truck for the long haul this time.

which level of protection did you get? I.e. premium care etc. does it cover diesel specific items?

Trying to get educated and it seems the information is somewhat variable.
I purchased my Ford Premium ESP via Lombard but there are a few sellers that are cheaper.

With that being said, Lombard does off the most options when it comes to financing said ESP.

Find a good price and ask your dealer if they can match it..

Fingers crossed that if you ever have to use your second party ESP that all goes well.

Also, is your ESP valid at any Ford dealer?

If your broker says it is, you definitely should check beforehand at your favorite dealer.

It will cover repairs at any licensed mechanic shop. Doesn't have to be brand specific or a dealer.

So if I buy the premium plan it doesn’t cover all the power stroke/ emissions crap? I have to buy a separate PS plan?

Does not cover DPF and I don't believe it covers EGR.

It covers the PS. See attached. You also have extended coverage for emissions.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought all emissions systems were covered longer. 100k? In any case, the premium plan covers emissions. Still trying to get the system to let me attach the PDF; not working.

You can go here and download it. Premium Care Plan

Also no Diesel injectors and as I recently found out it doesn't cover a warped dash or leaking clearance lights.

seems like a lot of money to not even cover the basics of the injection system.....so what coverage must one buy to cover these items?

Only a little off topic but does anyone know if there's a dealer in Canada that sells the ESP online like Flood or Lombard?

troy from Fd-direct said that diesel care premium is just a subset of premium care. In other words everything on the diesel care package is included anyways, the only benefit is if you want coverage to 200,000 miles as that’s what Dieselcare buys you.

just another opinion
