Picking up my 2020 Friday. What kind of bed mat do you recommend? Ford OEM or something like Husky, DeeZee? I have the spray on bed liner. How does the tailgate mat stay on the tailgate? Thank for any info!
If you have the factory plastic cover, it’s garbage. Crap starts getting between the plastic and the bed, the tail gate protector starts peeling up, not a good option. I have a mat from Bed Rug that I really like. It’s not a rug, it’s rigid foam, contoured around the bed ridges so it gives you a flat surface. Also has a flap that covers the tail gate gap so you can sweep or shovel things right out of the bed easily. Doesn’t protect the wheel wells though, that’s the only thing I don’t like about it.

I have the spray in bed liner, should have been clearer.
I had a BedRug Classic Mat which I didn't really care for. Replaced it with the Ford OEM rubber mat. Its definitely heavy duty and nothing slides around on it. Fairly inexpensive if shopped around on ebay and can get free shipping (its heavy).
I have the spray-in liner as well. I went to Tractor Supply and picked up some horse stall mat. I cut it to size and laid it in the bed. I think that it’s 3/4”, so it lays flat and offers a lot of protection. I cut around the wheel wells, so they are only protected by the spray-in liner, but I don’t do a lot of hauling, so it works out okay. I use the truck mostly to haul our 33’ fifth-wheel, and I keep a can of fuel, a 7-gallon jug of water, a spare propane tank in a milk crate, and some leveling boards in the bed most of the time.
No problems with any of it sliding around. I also have a cover, for when the trailer isn’t hooked up.
I have the factory spray on liner, which is decent. I went to Tractor Supply and got a couple of rubber horse stall mats. These things weigh quite a bit, are thick, and damned near indestructible.
This is what I put in my 19. I also have a bed cover so I did not want something too thick. While my 19 came with the factory spray in liner, I still wanted a bit more bed protection. I did not add any additional mat on the tailgate.
I also crawled into the bed and put several coats of flex seal where ever I saw light through the side and front seams of the bed.
I have a Dee Zee heavy duty mat. Fits well. I also have the spray in liner but though some extra protection a good thing since the beds are not as durable.

Agree and disagree. After years of going with spray ins plus a rubber mat and then trying a full BedRug liner, I went back to a plastic drop in but replaced the old rubber mat that had been in 4 or 5 truck with a BedRug mat & tailgate protector. So far I've been very happy with it. Nothing slides around in it. If you need to crawl under the tonneau or have any other reason to be on your hands & knees in the bed, it's more forgiving to the body. The adhesive has been holding well for a year now on the tailgate protector, and I haul materials for my business with the tailgate down quite often.
As far as the plastic drop in liner, I feel that it protects the aluminum bed and wheel wells from accidental drops of heavy and/or sharp objects fairly well. As far as what happens between the liner and the bed I don't really care. I generally trade every 2-3 years and find that I'm usually able to leave the plastic liner with the traded truck and get the dealer to throw one in with the new truck. At minimum they'll swap the liner over to the new truck if there hasn't been a body style change.
Last go round I lucked out and found a brand new plastic drop in liner on Craigslist. The guy was getting a spray in liner for his new F 250 and sold me a brand new Ford branded liner for $100.
I've done two Raptor spray in liners myself with kits from eBay. They turned out well, but the prep work sucks. With my usual habit of trading relatively often I won't spend the money on Line X or Rhino.
My truck is Line-X'ed and I have a DeeZee bed mat from my old Dodge on top (which is why it doesn't fit too well up front). It doesn't bother me enough to buy a new one...and I could always cut it to fit.

I 100% agree, the intended usage needs to be taken into consideration, certainly not a 'one size fits all'.
Here's the mat that I have. It's a Bedrug product but not a rug material. I've been very happy with it so far. I have a Diamondback Bed Cover so I'm more likely to put things on top of that than under the cover. I put mostly bulk items, lumber, bikes and camping gear under the cover. If I was hauling gravel or other loose materials, I'd go with a spray in. https://bedrug.com/bedtred-impact-bed-mats
