I have a 300 i6 numbers matching 84 f150 that had a TFI distributor and an ECM computer since my purchase about 4 months ago I have ripped out the factory wiring harness and bought a painless customizable 21 circuit wiring harness I have everything but a few accessories hooked up I also bought a new HEI small cap vacuum advance distributor with true electronic ignition with that I also bought a ballast resistor and a blue wire clip DS2 ICM from advanced Auto manufacturing by BWD.
I installed everything to manufacture wiring diagrams I have read other forums about people having the same problem but couldn't find something exactly like mine I do not know if I have a bad DS2 module or a bad distributor I have no spark at all.
I don't exactly know how to test my DS2 module but when I hooked a multimeter up to it I have 8 volts going to the negative side on my coil at all times and 12 volts coming from it when cranking.
If anybody knows anything more to help would be much appreciated

Unless the wiring on the truck was total junk you did not need to replace it with the Painless kit to remove the ECM, feed back carb & dist. as the feed back system is stand alone and can be removed and leave the rest.
Ok we need to know just what parts you bought as an HEI does not need a ICM (blue wire deallie) as the HEI should run on its own by just putting 12 volts to it.
If you are using the blue wire ICM then you should be running a DSII dist to trigger it.
If you had them 2 items and the Painless harness that joins them to the factory harness, plug-n-play, I bet you would be running.
So after you list the dist. & box, maybe post pictures of them also, and how you have them wired so we can get a clue what you have so we can help.
