Autometer monster tach

Does anyone have an autometer 5" monster tach mounted in their 73-79 pickup? If so any pictures. I want to get ideas of how and where to mount mine. Thanks in advance for any help.

They usually get mounting on the column just in front of the cluster behind the steering wheel.

That's where mine is, on a hose clamp mount. I've considered moving it to the "A" pillar.

I went with a 5" in dash tack with the recall feature. Pics are in my interior gallery.

Awesome looking truck I like the in-dash idea, but then I'd have to get all those other fancy guages

I have mine mounted on the "A" piliar with a single sheet metal screw. Has been there for 6 years and has never moved. I chose to put it in this location so while I'm racing I can just simply glance over at it and really not take my eyes off the action out the window. That big bright yellow shift light can not be missed when it flashes in your face. I also have a mechanical H2O temp gauge mounted on the column and a mechanical oil pressure gauge mounted above the headlight / wiper switches (those spots were taken). Some pics in my gallery towrds the bottom of the page, check it out. -Ed

i did something a little different but i don't have a pix of it anymore and my ex-wife got the truck in the divorce... i mounted it with a couple sheetmetals screws up on the left side of the roof by the windshield seal. it was right in the corner of the windshield so your view wasn't obstructed and it was at eye level so you could get your RPM's with a quick sideways glance.. i used the monster tach with an in tach **** light so it was easy to see when it went off also.. when i mount my tach in my crew cab thats where i will mount it also and i'll post some pix then...

Thanks guys. So many great ideas. Now its hard to decide, but I'm debating on A-pillar thanks to 77460f150's pics and on dash above heater controls. Which would be better?

My other 77 had one mounted on the dash above the heater controls when I bought it, two things I didn't personaly like about it there. 1) they drilled 2 holes in the dash and dash pad for mounting and 2) it did obstruct your view slightly. Comes down to personal preferance and or useage I guess. -Ed

Thanks Ed I was thinking it would block view as for putting it on A-pillar I think I'd have to remove it to put inspection sticker there, but i think it still might be the better spot. I may try mounting it tomorrow

As a few before me, I have mine mounted to the column with a hose clamp. The only Problem is that it blocks the fuel guage, which is probably a good thing in my case. I wanted to mount it next to the other guages on the dash, but didn't want to drill any holes in the dash pad.

That looks cool. I like the 3 guages in the middle. I was going to put in a temp guage and oil press. guage but I think I'm going to just use the stock ones and keep the dash clean. I just got done mounting guage to A-pillar will post pictures after I'm done wiring it.
