'02 Ex- BCM problem?

Long time lurker and this reference has been invaluable. I find myself at decision time on my 2002 Ex with what seems to be a bad BCM and having a hell of a time finding anyone to test/refurb. Part # on the unit is (2C7T-15K602-AG).

Issues: Keyfob does not function, door ajar light on, radio/windows function after opening doors (overide killls them 10-15min later). Can pull fuse #19 and functionality returns for a short time or craps out immediately. I could live with these issue if I knew if would not go any further.

Sent BCM to BBA reman after being told they could fix, only to find they are unable to test/fix and have tried to no avail to find anyone else that can help (XeModex and several others)

Anyone point me right direction with a refurb/test site or maybe I'm going down the wrong path??

Love this truck and gotta figure it out! Any help MOST appreciated!

There’s a place in Chattanooga, TN that works on PCMs for our 7.3s. Maybe someone will chime in to identify that place.

I believe that we have an Ex forum here. While there are Ex guys in this section you might find more and better help in the Ex forum.

Thanks.....I've posted in the Excursion thread to see if anyone can lend advice.

AubieTN- The place you mention in TN....you say they work on PCM's. What I believe I need is the Body Control Module (BCM). Do they on the off chance test/refurbish them???

Not sure, thought BCM was a typo for PCM. Sorry.

Is the bcm a excursion only thing? Does it have something to do with the pats system?

I had experience with a known 02 and 03 problem.
my 03 f250 had a gem problem. It effected only the items that should stay on...or should still work during the 15 minute courtesy time.
When it was temperamental those above items wouldn't work at all. I used a jumper to bypass it. Cost was almost free. Only negative was lights and radio could be left on accidentally.

I'm no expert on the Excursion so take what I say here with a grain of salt. I cannot find any reference to a BCM in my manuals for a 2002 Excursion. It seems your issues might be coming from a VSM. Yet you say you pulled a BCM from your vehicle so you definitely have one so I'm confused. Did you read that part number off the module that you pulled out? I have attached the wiring diagrams and D&T section I have been able to find that seem somewhat related to your issues. I hope they help.

I believe that GM calls the thing a BCM (body control module) but I don't know what all it controls.

Thanks for the feedback. Will dig into the diagrams this weekend. Posted this in the Ex thread and found a few promising sources on refurb/replacement parts.

As was said in another thread............."Vehicle security module. It seems that it is sometimes called a "GEM" - General or Generic Electronic Module, "VSM", or "BCM" - Body control module. Yes its confusing."

Maybe they are are the same part between the SD's and Ex. and called different things depending on the year, but they are not interchangeable. 🤷‍♂️
