really want just a reliable cruiser with enough butt in it's britches to pin me to the cab wall... Using a quickflow 650 now and having lots of problems with primary bowl overflow and flooding. Rebuilt twice and me or my carb guru can't find the problem. We swapped one of his Demon 750s on it and it ran like a scalded dog... just what I wanted... but he won't part with the Demon. I just have lost faith in the QuickFuel for a dependable unit... Twenty minutes on hold with holley tec got me a recommendation of a street demon 1900 which is 625 cfm with vac secondaries and e-choke. I like mech secondaries but he says vac is better for a cruiser... less hesitation off throttle... I looked at the new street demons and they just look funky..
So I'm looking for expert and real life recommendations for a simple reliable cruisers that I can depend on... oh yea, I want 20mpg also () Help an old timer out ???
Summit carbs or Edlbrock AVS have annular boosters if your going for a street carb get the annular boosters. Summit also has a dbl pumper version, also the jets in the bottom of the carbs too for off road situations.
Since I started working on cars and trucks in the late sixties I have had several Holley's, Carters and a couple of the Edelbrocks. In my younger days I did not mind experimenting with different jets, power valves, metering blocks, float settings, dealing with fuel leaks between the fuel bowls and metering blocks, accelerator pump leaks, blown power valves after backfires etc. I will not argue that the Holley's may make more power, and can be tuned till the cows come home, but like adjusting solid lifters on a regular basis after a while all the fiddling around gets tiresome. At some point you just want to drive the thing and not have to mess with it. The AFB style carbs have always been extremely reliable for me. I have used them on a early Bronco that did a lot of off roading, pickups, farm trucks, and a marine version on a boat. I like the fact that there are no gaskets under the fuel to leak. I am strongly considering getting a Edelbrock AVS2 for my current project.

Reason: misspelling of edelbrock
