Hi, I just aquired a 2003 F250 SuperDuty 4X4 with 6.0 diesel engine and with issues. Truck has 268000 KM / 161500 Miles. It's running but has no compression on Cylinder 4 and fuel get into oil. Not to waste time and money, I got a used 6.0 with 172000 KM / 106800 Miles from a F-350 2004 that is running fine.
Part One : Engine Swap
In 2 weeks I'll be swapping the engine. If anyone has any advise on other parts I should look into while the engine is out please let me know. Don't feel like pulling the engine again any time soon.
Part Two : Dually Conversion - For Stability not for extra towing weight
Part of the purchase I also got a separate differential with dually wheels and new tires. The metal tag on it is quite rusted and I can barely see some numbers but there is also a white stiker showing 169S. Base on my research the 169S would be a Limited Slip 4.10. The meal tag is only showing the last few numbers. First numbers I can see are perhaps 101C.2.6E13 (Part on bold is clear the rest I'm not sure). Based on the door tag of my truck I have a C1 Differential (3.73 Limited Slip).
Since I have a 4X4 I need 3.73 gear in the dually. Can I swap the differential gears from my current differentials and put them into the dually differential?
Actually I found a picture of the dually diff and I can confirm the truck as a C1 in it but do not have a pic. I only have the door sticker and the VIN.
If this help here's a picture of the truck from the previous owner. Disregard the camper as I do not have it. Truck already have dually bed 8' and is in decent condition.
