2000 F150 Anti - Theft System
Anyone know more details about the "anti theft" system in a 2000 F150 ?
When the vehicle is off I see it flashing on/off. Does this mean it's working ?
Is this system an immobilizer that prevents vehicle theft, or is this a useless system just for show ?
How does this protect the vehicle, does it just allow the vehicle owners keys - to start it and prevent hot wiring ?
I'm looking for an upgrade basically for a quality anti theft system.
Any feedback would be great!

So it's working ?
It's blinking "anti theft" when the vehicle is in park and off.
Once the car is running, there is no "anti theft" showing.
I only have the two keys from the dealer.
So if someone tries to mess with the car, hot wire, whatever, this will help ?
I'm looking for something stronger.

The Ford system cannot be jumpered or hot wired in any way. It's way beyond that point.
The system has to see the correct key program code.
The Dash is part of the program.
If that code is not passed to the engine computer, it cuts off fuel injection.
Open the system in any way electrical or mechanical and the motor will not start.
Once the motor starts for normal use, the Theft system is no longer part of the operating chain until the ignition is shut off and operated again, the your back to the same protection again.
If it was not this good, it would be useless.

So this "Anti theft system" as described is currently operational ?
I got the two keys with the Truck, so these are specifically programmed for this specific system only ?
So if anyone tries to jump the car or screw driver the ignition, I'm covered with this current system ?
I'll put a kill switch too just to be safe.

Nah, you don't need a kill switch if the motor won't start.
Be worried more about damage than having the truck stolen.
They can't get it out of park without the ignition On.
Only other way is to pick the front up and tow it away after the drive shaft is disconnected.
Or pick up the rear and tow on the front wheels.
Your getting too out of hand with this.
Next thing you will want to do is put a bomb inside and kill the thief.
